The Black History of Miami Shores
The Black History of Miami Shores exhibit will explore our community’s past at pivotal points in history. We will examine the role of racial discrimination and Black people’s contributions to Miami Shores’ development as a residential community. Using contemporaneous accounts, newspaper clippings and public records, we will put Miami Shores history in the context of national and international events as well as the happenings in surrounding areas. The exhibit will take us right up to the present with quotes and testimony from people who live, learn, play and work in and around our village.
